The first reflection

My first summary in this course was about desert policemen. It talks about how policemen could make the safe. Our teacher taught us how to write good summaries about the articles; he said that we should understand the main idea first. After that we should leave out the names and the quotations. This summary was practice for the lesson.
Our second summary was about road crash, and most of it was about children’s safety. Hedley taught us how to use the words in the paragraph and how to take the main idea from it and summarize it. He corrected our mistakes after giving it to him; after that he give it back so we can know our mistakes. This summary has 10 percent from the overall grade.
The third summary was about pearl diving and its history. It talks about how the pearl diving was getting less famous by time. Most of this summary talks about the past, present and what would they do to make safe their tradition. Our teacher taught us in this summary that we need some dates, names and numbers. But we can summarize without using them a lot.

Tour provides insight into pearl diving

One of the largest natural diving economies in the world was the Arabian Gulf. Early last century there were many pearling boats along the Trucial Coast. Until the last century the pearls trade was at its peak. These days there are some groups who take you to dive to the ocean floor in search for their pearls. Some reporters were invited to write about pearl diving and tourism. Two centuries ago the pearl was the financial lifeblood for Emiratis. The pearl industry in the UAE collapsed when the Far East pearl farmers cultured pearl by putting a foreign drop   in each oyster to make fine pearls fast. It takes a long time to find the indescribable pink pearl which is the most expensive kind of pearls including the black pearl. In Dubai you can still enjoy this experience from a group of companies, which offers the traditional clothes, food and old stories including diving for pearls.

Road crashes main cause of child death in UAE

The leading cause of death among infants is traffic accidents. In the UAE there is only one law concerning child restraint in vehicles that says young children in the passenger seat must wear a seat belt. The Ministry of interior prohibited young children from sitting in the front seat. A very small percentage of child passengers are restrained by car seats or seat belts. The seat belts or the car seats can reduce one risk on the child. The main important thing about the car seat is that it absorbs the actual force and it takes it away from the child.

Desert horsemen

Desert horsemen are part of Ras AlKhaimah security people. The horsemen are divided into groups to search near the settlements for troublemakers. All of the horsemen in the seven emirates have the same dress: kanduras wrapped around their waists, beige riding trousers and black boots and most of them are from India. Each emirate has a patrol division to look after areas outside cities, which are hard fore cars to reach. They don’t have more than mobile phones and walkie-talkies and their weapon is silence. Their role is to be the people eyes in the desert and the villages. Before the police, the tribes used to do it.
